Mount Rigi is known as the «Queen of the Mountains» and even here there are legends of dragons, gnomes, witches, giants, ghosts and pious sisters to tell. It is said that after the death of the last sister a water source bubbled out of the rock. Soon, Kaltbad (cold bath) was a popular health resort because of its legendary spring water. In the 19th century the sunrise of Mount Rigi became a cult. Personalities such as Mark Twain, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Hermann Hesse admired the fantastic sunrises from Rigi Kulm. In 1871, the first cogwheel train was built on the Rigi.

With a half-day trip we enjoy a few carefree hours in nature, with easy walks and a spectacular view of the Lake Lucerne and surroundings. The Rigi is easily reached from Lucerne by boat.
