For years mysterious legends and myths have enveloped the «mons fractus», as the mountain was once called. Good-natured dragons and countless spiritual beings are said to have lived on the mountain in the middle ages. According to legend, even the restless soul of the Roman governor Pontius Pilate should be in the former Pilatus Lake.
