The starting point of many excursion destinations
Due to its central uniquely beautiful location by the lake and being the transition from the Central Plateau to the Alps, Lucerne is the ideal starting point for many excursions. In Lucerne we can enjoy a unique panorama of the surrounding mountains, which can be reached very easily by ship and can be climbed with the mountain trains just as easily: The Rigi, the Queen of the Mountains with Europe’s first cogwheel train built in 1871, the Dragon Mount Pilatus with the steepest cogwheel train in the world and the Bürgenstock with the funicular railway from Kehrsiten-Bürgenstock (expected to begin operation in 2014), the cliff path and the highest outdoor elevator in Europe. Among other destinations Mount Titlis is easy and convenient to reach from Lucerne, the highest mountain in Central Switzerland with Europe's highest suspension bridge, and also Jungfraujoch, which is called the «Top of Europe».
Dank der zentralen einmalig schönen Lage am See und am Übergang vom Mittelland zu den Alpen ist Luzern der ideale Ausgangspunkt von vielen Ausflugszielen. In Luzern geniesst man ein einzigartiges Panorama auf die umliegenden Berge, welche mit dem Schiff sehr einfach zu erreichen und mit den Bergbahnen ebenso einfach zu erklimmen sind: Die Rigi, die Königin der Berge mit der 1871 erbauten ersten Zahnradbahn Europas, der Drachenberg Pilatus mit der steilsten Zahnradbahn der Welt und der Bürgenstock mit der Standseilbahn ab Kehristen-Bürgenstock, dem Felsenweg und dem höchstgelegenen Freiluftaufzug Europas. Einfach und bequem von Luzern aus zu erreichen sind unter anderem auch der Titlis, der höchste Berg der Zentralschweiz mit Europas höchstgelegenen Hängebrücke und das Jungfraujoch, welches «Top of Europe» genannt wird.
